FASHION DAY 1

The first day I had a 3D class in the morning. They told me I was in fashion and the first half of the class I missed it. Instead of using the public art photos as primary research, I used those from the King Cross building. However, I am a great admirer of Henry Moore, so the organic shapes I drew, based on the King Cross building, were made in relation to a sculpture that I already knew was in South London. The techniques we used were identical to those of the pathway diagnostic exercise and were very useful, as they made it easier for me to represent my model.

When I looked at the paper model in the model, I realized that the chest was quite voluptuous. I found it interesting to use this figure of the chest as a protagonist and to be able to develop it throughout the whole process. The drawings I made were interesting to me, as they represented different shapes of the model and I felt more comfortable with some techniques than others. For example, in the second drawing in which we had to make a collage, I felt comfortable expressing myself in a different way from the first drawing in which I used Chinese ink. I felt that even though I had made the first model I wanted to develop the shape a lot more and I wanted to base myself completely on the sculpture I had in mind. Not only did I look at the sculpture, but I also began to watch documentaries and learn about the inspiration sources of this incredible sculptor. All the research I did allow me to realize that I wanted to make a garment that would exalt some of the woman's physical points

FASHION DAY 2

When I went looking for the fabrics for the first time, I realized how interested I was in the textures and the different shapes of these textures. This made me think that knitwear could be a good pathway for me. These textures when representing the different models and the different ways of painting my garment. These textures allowed me to realize that I hadn't very well linked the shapes of my garment with the textures I had chosen and instead of thinking about which textures could go according to my garment I should have thought more about choosing a color.

Researching in the library I found other artists. I thought of representing the exaggerated organic forms used by Moore in the sculpture as an inflatable because I wanted it to be organic, continuous and exaggerated. As I wanted to represent my garment as an inflatable textile, I met numerous artists like Warhol and his inflatable Kuns sculptures and the costume he made for Natalia. Also Gareth Pugh and REI Kawacubo and the organic shapes they used in their costumes. Later on, after seeing all these artists and designers I realized that I was going to do it with balloons. Looking for the word balloon on the library computer, I came across a novel called "The Red Ball", which was about the friendship between a boy and a red balloon. This film had a huge impact on me and I decided to use the color red. Apart from the sculpture I saw, another Moore sculpture in which he represented the woman's ribs as a key element made me realize that this rib shape was the one I wanted to use for my garment. Also, seeing that he was obsessed with the figure of mother and son, I decided to make a representation of this image in my future garment.

FASHION DAY 3

When I went to buy the fabric, I focused a lot on choosing a texture that was elastic enough to make the shapes, but also a little stiff enough to keep the curved shape. The first model I sewed it with a sheet and it turned out to be a good way to find out the shapes I wanted to have on my body and to use this fabric to discover the shapes, instead of arranging the fabric to these shapes. Simply mold the fabric and see the shapes that facilitate such folds. Establishing shapes according to moldable ability in class after finishing sewing taught us how to make development sheets that were key to realizing the mistakes we had made and the things that needed to be changed. I realized that I had noticed the right material, but had not visualized its function in the garment volume. As in a building (which is divided into structure and façade), a suit is the same. The bad news is, I'd only considered the façade. That's why I wanted to repeat it again to get the right volume. When drawing and doing the different interpretations of my garment and doing the exercises that the teachers had suggested to us, like exaggerating a part of the body, I realized how obsessed I was with the woman's chest, since the female breast is taboo nowadays.

Because of this, I wanted to represent the woman's breast in an abstract way, but to reflect that frustration and concern about the fact that the woman's breast is a sexual being and still so taboo. That is why after having made all these illustrations and having used all these techniques, I decided to repeat my garment and decided to use the contrast of the real female breast with my representation of that concern for that social factor in the abstract way reflected in my garment.

When I got home I decided to do an exercise and an inspirational development sheet, including the hair of the red ball. Then I made several development worksheets about Henry Moore's work and ended up realizing the certain form I wanted to give to my garment.

TEXTILE DAY 1

Working at the Barbican helped us to identify the different textures of the building with the materials we used to represent them on paper. We were also able to find the contrast between certain representations that we tried to make accurate and those that we represented through a quick drawing. The idea of teamwork and integrating our designs and personal objects into the building was another way to understand the expressiveness of their materials. All the techniques used later in the classes were useful to find out interesting shapes, contrasts, and chromatic combinations. The development I did at home made me realize that my interest went beyond the prints. All my approximations were in 3D.

TEXTILES DAY 2

The next day I realized the importance of experimentation with all sorts of strategies that favor the production of as many ideas as possible. It was fundamental for me to work with something as simple as paper. This provided us with a kind of humility and taught us that good ideas do not depend on what you spend on materials. It was challenging to vary the scale and try to do a bigger job. This helped to integrate our work with the human body, giving it functionality. As I left class, I realized how much I was interested in different textures and went to Poundland and bought a lot of different materials and things.

TEXTILES DAY 3

The last day of textiles we brought our 10 samples of textiles. In the morning I came up with other fresh ideas. the part that I enjoyed most was when we went to the Barbican and we take the photos of our textiles samples with the buildings behind. I was so enthusiastic about the fact that without any intention, my textiles match perfectly with the buildings and it shapes.
