Pieles
This film, Pieles by Eduardo Casanova, really shocked me. I was amazed by how imaginative the theme was. Not only it treated deformities in human beings, but their influence on a person. Different peculiar stories with a pink esthetic. Also the way he invented deformities is really imaginative. When I saw this film I immediately wanted to treat deformities and beauty in a very objective way
This story in particular really made me thought about feminism as a theme, and the fact that woman in society always have to "eat peoples shit". This is a Spanish expression that means: having to cope with discrimination, bad things etc
This story in particular is about a guy that thinks that legs in general are ugly. He desperately wants to get rid of them, but her mother is always insulting him, because he thinks he is crazy. this story made me think about self esteem and body alteration. Also how this guy focus on what he likes and what really feels confortable with, no matter how drastic it is. Also how he don't mind about peoples opinion of beauty.
Louise Burjois
This images I have selected are art pieces linked to the theme of the subjection of woman. Louise Burjois use this theme a lot to show how woman are discriminated in society. I immediately went to the royal drawing school in Shoreditch to watch a documentary of this artist.
deseases and human cells under the microscope
After a lot of research an interesting idea came to my mind. I though about at what point could deformities and deseases be accepted. I realized weeks ago I also started looking at how skin looked from a short distance, to look at it shape and texture, and to understand its composition. This is why I came with the idea of looking at deseases from a short distance. I discover this book called
Lacobuzio-Donahue, Christina[writer] Hidden Beauty: Exploring the Aesthetics
and came with this fresh idea.
This contrast between how harmful deseases are, how they looked like in people, and the trail they leave on the human body, and how beautiful they look under the microscope, is really interesting.
How people can have two different views or opinion about the same thing looked at it from a different distance?
I decided to use the socially accepted views of deformities( under the microscope) to change peoples minds when they see someone with a deformity or a desease.
And try to make deformities and deseases completely socially accepted

This film treats the gender change and the concept of beauty. he is a guy that was kidnapped my a man. the reason he did that was that this guy violated her daughter. the man changes his gender without his permission, and the man falls in love with the guy turned into a woman. This film gave me the idea of how some woman are under the pressure of what men think is beautiful. Also how usually men sexualize the figure on the woman taking away their power.
This film made me think about using feminism as a part of my project.
As well in this film I discovered this magnificent artist called LOUIS BURJOIS.
Francis bacon
searching for the concept of beauty and the deformation of this concept linked to it subjectiveness I came along with this artist. Looking at how he used deformities as a topic I kept on searching for this topic
deformities and deseases in the past
This images are from a book I got from the library con mutter museum, and it is about deseases and deformities in the past.
I looked carefully at the images and some of them really surprised me. I instantly though about using them to do collages mixing them with my final samples.
